Litter picking in Central Asia
This year (2019) we went on holiday to Central Asia - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. It was really bad timing as we got the keys for the shop literally the day before we flew, however, it was a great trip and helped us get our heads in a good space for renovating, fitting out and opening the shop on as soon as we returned (literally the day after we got back).
One of the things that hit us pretty hard though was the amount of plastic rubbish we found strewn across the countryside near Osh in Kyrgyzstan when we went for a walk up a hill called Sulaiman-Too.
The hill was beautiful, the rubbish was not.
So, inspired by our good friend Servane, we did what we thought was best and had our own mini litter pick, filling up every bit of space in our bags with windswept and UV damaged bottles, bags and bits of plastic.
We barely scratched the surface on the amount of litter up there, but it was our little contribution to tidying the place up.
