COPING WITH THE COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS
During the past few days, we’ve been thinking about different ways to operate during these strange times - we want to play our part to help control the spread of COVID-19 as well as keep those around us as safe as possible.
We also understand that people need a safer way to buy food and household items, especially when we see and hear stories about supermarkets being mobbed and the difficulty of getting supplies.
With this in mind, we’re making the following changes for the foreseeable:
Orders should be placed over the phone. We’ll be able to provide accurate information on stock levels and product information.
Once we have your order, we’ll send you a payment link. When this has cleared, we’ll bag up your order.
You will now have two options:
Collection - let us know when you’re coming and we’ll have your order ready for you.
Delivery - your order will be delivered to your house by bike or by car.
We’ve spent some time updating our website, which now contains more details and prices. Any of our products can be purchased in this way - it’s not limited to food and cleaning products.
For now, we’ll use paper bags for food items and sterilised jars for liquids. This is to limit any possible contamination entering the shop (there’s mixed evidence about how the virus spreads outside the body so this seems like a good precaution).
There will be a small delivery fee - this is to help us cover the cost of additional staff we’ll need to operate this way:
£2 - if you live within 1 mile of the shop
£3 - if you live within 2 miles of the shop
£4 - if you live within 3 miles of the shop
And so on.
Switching to this mode of operation has the following benefits:
By encouraging people to stay at home we are contributing to the global effort to control the spread of the virus.
We can help people who were on zero-hour contracts by providing them with some income through deliveries.
Safety of our customers, as well as ourselves, is paramount - this is a good way to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Purchases can still be placed at the shop, however, customers will be asked to remain outside whilst the order is prepared.
We have a new phone number for the shop for you to place your order: 07399 636708
Lastly, if you know of anyone that’s vulnerable and self-isolating, please spread the word and ask them to get in touch to see if we can help.
